Those cars were rebuilt from normal Mk2s in the mid-80s by British Rail, in an effort to enhance its Sleeper services. Passengers using seated-accommodation may not access this car. Only those travelling in Sleeping-cars are entitled to this facility, with First Class passengers taking precedence over those travelling Standard Class Sleeper.
Although the Lounge looks very much like a Tea Room, it is actually rather a pub on rails...
