York - National Railway Museum. Queen Victoria wasn't too keen on trains speeding too much, but still she travelled in luxurious conditions, in padded walls and comfortable thick carpets on the floor. Here we see her, dressed in her caracteristhic black clothes. Reproduction of life in a Royal train at the station hall of the museum.

gb-RoyalTrain+143-BristolTM.jpg (129483 bytes)

A real contrast in class of travel, on the left are the luxurious coaches of the Royal Train, on the right is a Class 143 DMU offering probably the worst ride quality of any current UK stock.

This photograph was taken on a very foggy November night at Bristol Temple Meads station.
