The Brown Boveri locomotive 18000 was taken out of service and was for many years in Vienna devoid of its internals and used as a test locomotive. Recently it has been returned to Britain and externally restored to its original condition, but of course without the gas turbine.

The Metropolitain Vickers locomotive, 18100 was withdrawn from service on 1/2/58 . It was then converted to an electric locomotive and given the number E2001. It was used for driver training on the new 25kV electrifiation scheme then underway. It was officially classed as a A1A A1A configuration because the motors on the centre axle of each bogie were removed. This locomotive was withdrawn from service once the main production of new electric locomotives was underway. It was withdrawn in 1968 and sold for scrap iron 15/9/1971 and finally broken up in January 1973.

Didcot Railway Centre is the living museum of the Great Western Railway.
British Rail diesel locomotive 18000 is a prototype gas turbine electric locomotive, built in 1946 in Switzerland. It was in daily use until December 1960. It went back to Switzerland but brought to Didcot once again in 2011.

British Rail Experimental Gas Turbine Unit seen at Railway World, Crewe 20 May 2000. This locomotive is now a shell of the train, after it was abandoned by British Rail in the fifties as a Gas Trubine prototype it was modifed for as a prototype ofr the new Electric Locomotives that were being built in the UK - later it was exported to Germany where it was modified for work on the electrified net of DB.
