We think this may well be the oldest main line diesel operating on the network which would make it almost 50 years old! Only 11 production class 31s were built as 'skinheads' with the rounded roof and this would appear to be the 5th one of these. Class 31s have a really dated look about them and the fact that a few survive today working for FM Rail or in this case Network Rail is a real bonus. Pictured making a suitably claggy departure on Test Train from London Euston on the 11th March 2006 is 31105.
