OLD LOCOS STILL GOING STRONG AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
Some locos that still see main line use in 2008 first took to the rails in the late 1950s or early 1960s making them 40 to 50 years old. Quite remarkable considering they were designed in a very different era.
31602 first entered service in 1960 as D5614, then 31191 and more recently after having ETS fitted 602. The loco like a number of class 31s would certainly appear to have a future as one of Network Rails fleet and has recently been painted into their yellow livery. It is seen here with 31233 on the back on a SERCO Test Train approaching Cheshunt on the 25th March 2008.
