OLD LOCOS STILL GOING STRONG AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
Some locos that still see main line use in 2008 first took to the rails in the late 1950s or early 1960s making them 40 to 50 years old. Quite remarkable considering they were designed in a very different era.
37423 that first entered service in 1965 as D6996 and then 37296 has recently made a welcomed return to traffic with DRS. She is seen here with an Inspection Saloon at Mill Hill Broadway on the 1st April 2008 sporting DRS's new 'Compass' Livery. The change to a 37 '4' indicates the addition of Electric Train Heating or ETH which took place in the mid-1980s.
