With EWS class 47s and 56s shortly to go there have been alarming rumours...from an enthusiast's viewpoint... of a significant reduction in the class 37 fleet as well, currently just under 50. This might leave just the 37 4s which have train heating and can therefore be used on passenger services as well as freight. Hopefully it will not be quite this drastic but the sight here of 37684 'Peak National Park' on an engineering train at Kensington Olympia on the 19th February 2004 will not doubt become an increasingly rare one.
