Class 37 698 "Coedbach" with an empty MGR train heads towards the Taff-Bargoed mine complex (South Wales) in Spring 1989.  The loaded train would return to Aberthaw power station.  The locomotive is seen in Railfreight coal colours and the "Ram" symbol indicating its allocation to Cardiff Canton depot. The mines would close a few year after the photo was taken.
