40 004 leaves Coventry with the 11:50 Paddington - Birmingham New Street, 1/5/82. Pictures of this working have appeared in several publications over the years. By chance I was in the area that day, and found out from enthusisats on the platforms at Banbury that 40 004 had taken over a failed train and worked through to Paddington. I picked up the return working from Reading and travelled to Coventry on it.
