This picture could almost have been taken in the early 1980s but in fact this is Thursday April 8th 2004. To mark the closure of the original St.Pancras train shed to enable it to take Eurostar arrivals in 2007, a special additional service was put on with an appropriate loco in charge. Peaks were a common sight on the Midland Main Line in the 1970s so doing the honours is Fragonset's 45112 'The Royal Army Ordnance Corps' which is seen here at West Hampstead Thameslink almost at the end of its round trip to the East Midlands. The return named train in the evening did not carry the headboard so this was the last time it was used.
