Newport station in South Wales - a First Great Western HST on a scheduled London Paddington to Cardiff or Swansea service is at platform 2. At platfrom 1 on the right, an Arriva Trains Wales shuttle service between here and Cardiff is top-and-tailed by Class 47 locomotives, 47815 <i>Great Western</i> in British Railways two-tone green livery and carrying its pre-TOPS number of D1748 is at the western end. Not visible in this photo, is 47839 in an unbranded dark blue livery at the eastern end. The shuttle services are operated at times of peak demand - on this occasion Rugby Union's <i>Heineken Cup</i> final between Munster and Biarritz was taking place at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
