On Saturday 25th September 2004 something quite AMAZING happenned at Stratford E.London!
In the space of less than 1 hour two of the most unlikely classes went through the station...
and this is the first. Other than maybe visiting nearby the long gone Stratford Depot, class 50s
would only have made very occasional visits to the region. Here we see 50049 recently
restored to Large Logo Blue bringing its westcountry bound charter train through the station.

Hang on whats this...a second class 50 on the back in this case 50031 'Hood' also
looking splendid in newly painted Large Logo livery on the top-n-tailed class 50
charter. The unlikely venue for this is Stratford E.London and the date 25th September 2004.

HISTORY.To mark the end of Silverlink this 'Silverlink Swansong' charter top-n-tailed by 50049 and 37410 ran
along various Silverlink lines. Here we see 50049 at Stratford on November 17th 2007 on the second of the two
special charters.

D444 is the very first class 50 to carry this livery as on BR they all ran
in blue from the start. Although it is therefore not an authentic colour scheme
it seems we think, to suit the class well. The loco is mainline approved
so it should make a good site on the front of charters later this year.
