Newport station in South Wales - a First Great Western HST on a scheduled London Paddington to Cardiff or Swansea service is at platform 2. On the right, an Arriva Trains Wales shuttle service between here and Cardiff, top-and-tailed by locomotives, 50049 and 37425 - both in BR Large Logo livery, pulls into platform 1 with the Class 50 at the rear. The shuttle service is to cater for the extra demand generated by the Rugby Union <i>Heineken Cup</i> final between Munster and Biarritz at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
