Bringing up the rear of an Arriva Trains Wales shuttle service of four Arriva-livieried Mark 2 coaches between Cardiff Central and Newport stations is Class 50 diesel locomotive 50049. The other loco of the pair on this top-and-tailed service is Class 37 diesel locomotive 37425 <i>Pride of the Valleys</i>, which like the Class 50 is in BR Large Logo livery.

The shuttle service is to cater for the extra demand generated by the Rugby Union <i>Heineken Cup</i> final between Munster and Biarritz at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
