Unique 57601 was originally 47825 'Thomas Telford'. It is pictured at Paddington Station in 2001. Although the loco has recently ended its work for First Great Western it has been acquired by the West Coast Railway Company that provides locos and coaches for hire so it will still be seen out on the mainline but in a new maroon livery.

The passenger version of the Class 57 enters Reading Station on a West Country - London working in July 2001. This locomotive is a derivative of the Class 47 conversion, basically a new engine and complete overall the systems. The Class 57/6 adds Electric Train Heating to the concept. This is basically a demonstrator and will be used to show operators what is possible at a reduced cost.

This loco used to be 47825, but is now re-engined 57601 and is used by First Great Western out of Paddington where it was pictured in 2001.
