EWS Class 58.

58048 & 58016 stand at Edinburgh Waverley on saturday 10th July 1999 after arriving with the Worksop committee railtour which ran from Worksop. The 58's, with 37682 on the rear, then proceeded to run round the Fife Circular line and also visit both the Kincardine & Rosyth Dockyard branches.

Not so long ago you had a chance of seeing a class 58 over here but unfortunately not anymore.. you have to go to Holland or Spain! 58030 is seen approaching Didcot with an Enterprise service from Eastleigh in 2001.

These two class 58s 041 & 043 are off to sunny Spain to join up with some class 37s already there working for GIF. This was the only occassion these locos in this livery ran under their own power in the UK. Date March 19th 2003. Place Clapham Junction.

58033 has like the remainder of the class now been withdrawn, although since this happened in September 2002 two have gone to Spain and another two to Holland. They were never considered to be poor designs...far from it...just that the heavy traffic they were designed for dropped off. This loco pictured at Didcot in the Autumn of 2001 was the only one to have the gold EW & S band slightly raised.
