In complete contrast to the ageing electric 86501 that had only just gone through Stratford, this is Freightliner's brand new GE class 70 on its very first vist to the Anglia region. Hauling the 4L93 Lawley Street to Felixstowe, pioneer 70001 makes an impressive and somewhat different sight to the many GM class 66s we have seen now for well over 10 years. With a new sound, a little clag and a whiff of diesel in the air to accompany those distinctive looks the class could become quite a favourite amongst enthusiats over here. The date is December 3rd 2009.
