One thinks of the IC125 units as DMU's but in reality they are permenantly coupled locomotives. As such the Class deisgination is Class 43.  The only locomotive, it seems, able to replace a Class 43 is another Class 43. At the moment it is proposed to refurbish the Great Western and GNER Fleets.
