An unidentified First Great Western Class 43 HST powercar passes under the bridge carrying a footpath over the railway between Patchway station and the split-level Patchway tunnels, while an eastbound Wessex Trains Class 158/9 DMU 158967 waits at a signal at the top of the incline from the tunnel. The HST is on a London Paddington to Cardiff or Swansea service, while the DMU is on a Cardiff-Portsmouth journey.
