First Great Western HST at Cardiff Central, UK
Probably BRs greatest single success (apart from perhaps electrifying the West Coast Mainline), the 125mph (200km/h) High Speed Train, is still going strong on Great Western. These trains are still the main express trains from South Wales, Bristol, and the South West to London.
This is a Swansea - London express, calling at Cardiff Central platform 4. This is the leading power car. Every HST has two Class 43 power cars, one at each end.
The livery sported by this train is becoming increasingly rare - the green, gold and white being replaced by Firstgroup's corporate colours, of blue, white and pink, although Great Western is being allowed to retain its gold band, possibly due to its prestigious nature as a long-distance intercity operator.
