QJump liveried Class 170 Turbostar seen passing Undy in Gwent, one of the saving graces of UK standardisation is the number of non standard livery, the date of the photograph is 20 February 2004.

Porterbrook Class 170 Turbostar on the Derby to Matlock local. These units were built as demonstrator and speculative hire vehicles. The Derby - Matlock route has often been a running in turn for new units and locomotives, during the Modernisation Programme locomotives built at Derby works were put on the Derby - Manchester turn, after this route was truncated at Matlock so was the test route, being close to the engineering works and also their builder this route was ideal. Obviously old habits die hard!

Class 170 seen passing Portway in Birmingham Olympic livery, kinda nice against the green of autumn.

[In its pink livery 399 was for the Birmingham bid for the European capital of Culture 2008, not the Olympics as stated.]

12 March 2004 at Derby/Nottingham was a very interesting day, especially on the Turbostar front, first of al I managed to get 170 513 and whilst photographing that unit 170 397 entered Nottingham - -on the wrong platform. Fortunately whilst taking some night shot Notwork Rail and Central Trians obliged by putting it on a Nottingham - Worcester working.
