Scotrail's 170 410 was involved in a driver-training run from Perth to Inverness on Friday, 22 September, 2000. The train stops at Aviemore and has the words 'Test Train' displayed on the destination indicator. The driver training for 170 traction knowledge had been going on all summer, with Perth drivers gaining traction knowledge in preparation for the introduction of Turbostars to Inverness in the Winter 2000/01 timetable.
