A front view of the UK mockup of the new class 185 DMUs for the Transpennine Express franchise recently awarded to First. Due to enter service in December 2004, I am not certain whether these are going to replace or be an addition to the class 158s currently used. The mockup is in the Great Hall of the National Railway Museum in York, a city the new units will regularly visit.

First DMU 185 134 is parked at Aachen West on 18 August 2006. For the delivery
from Germany to Great Britain, these trains are inserted into regular freight
trains. Two adapter cars are required, as the DMUs have Scharfenberg couplers
instead of screw-link couplers.
