A view inside the engine compartment of Tiger as it stands at Bo'Ness on the Bo'Ness & Kinneil Railway during the diesel Gala Weekend event on Saturday 4th September 1999. This locomotive is one of two such experimental prototype shunters used by BR in the early 1950's, the other being TOM (NBL27414/1954) which is also preserved. These shunters which have a max spped of 12mph are powered by a Paxman 6 VRPHXL engine of 160kW (225hp) at 1250rpm and have hydraulic (Voith L24V) transmission and can produce a maximum tractive effort of 112kN (22850 lbf). Normally this shunter could be found inside the actual museum building at Bo'Ness but for this years diesel gala event it had been brought out to operate with 14901 on the last train on saturday evening.
