UK Class 73/2  Electro-Diesel <BR>
73209 at Gatwick Airport on a Gatwick Express on Wednesday June 9<SUP>th</SUP>, 1999. Built from 1965 to 1967 these are rated at 1420 hp, 1060 kW on 750 V dc and are equipped with a 600 hp, 447 kW diesel engine for operating over non-3<SUP>rd</SUP> rail lines. The 73/2 class retained their 90 mph top speed for use on the airport expresses and were being replaced by new Class 460 EMUs from September, 2000.<P>
