Class 373s or Eurostars despite having been around for well over 10 years now are still very impressive trains that often merit a photo. It would be nice though if a new livery was considered for them especially as the GNER examples that looked so smart are now gone. This one was pictured heading for Waterloo at West Brompton on the 3rd April 2006.

cd373010_2.jpg (66220 bytes)

Eurostar train formations are long by British standards and this is seen to good effect as 373010 brings up the rear of the 1143 Paris to Waterloo service on the 19th October 2000 running 10 minutes late through Vauxhall. The different window line of the catering car is particularly noticeable in this shot.

Eurostar (UK) 3013 set

Eurostar 3013 , owned by Eurostar (UK) Ltd. , stands in the normal area of the
Bruxelles-Midi HST terminal , which is normally an exception.
Because of security reasons , Eurostar trains depart from the "secure" part of the terminal
(Tracks 1 and 2) , because in the secure terminal are passport and security checks
for entering England. In the normal terminal , every person with a valid train ticket
can board his Thalys/ICE/IC train , there are no further passport and security checks.

The reason why it has entered the "other" part of the terminal ? It will shortly be driven
towards the Forest-Midi car-wash , and only the tracks from the "normal" HST Terminal
reach the car-wash of Forest-Midi , the tracks in the Eurostar terminal DON'T !

But it did appear quite dirty , so it was the right moment to drive it in the car-wash.
Notice also the '30' number that has been ripped of.

Eurostar (UK) 3013 constructors plate

Here you can see which constructors built the Eurostar trainsets.
There are 4 :
Bombardier BN (La Brugoise et Nivelles) of Canada/Belgium ,
GEC-Alsthom (now Alstom) and De Dietrich (now also Alstom DDF) of France ,
and Brush Traction of Great Britain. Not mentioned on the plate is Metro-Cammell of Great Britain ,
which also participated in the construction of the Eurostar.

GEC-Alsthom of France (now Alstom) was the leading constructor of the TMST consortium ,
built the carriages (bogies and shell) ,
and assembled all parts from other manufactors
in their Washwood Heath plant in Birmingham (UK).
Bombardier BN of Canada/Belgium fitted the interiors.
De Dietrich
(now Alstom DDF) of France builded the bodyshells of the motorcars.
Brush Traction of Great Britain built the 3-phase AC traction equipment.

The building year of this set (3013) is 1994.

Eurostar (UK) 3013 DC Pantograph

A detail photo of the Brecknell Willis "Highspeed" DC panto of Eurostar set 3013.
On British and Belgian Eurostar trainsets , this pantograph is only suited for 3kV=.
On some of the French Eurostar trainsets which are modified to drive under 1,5kV= ,
this pantograph is also suited for the 1,5kV= catenary
in France.

Amazingly this Eurostar is pictured, not in rural Kent but at Wandsworth Road just a few minutes out from Waterloo station..... on another occasion when we were here we were entertained by a family of foxes.....pictured on a glorious Summers day in August 1998.
