The 3-coach EMU 308 143 in Leeds PTE ‘Metro-train’ livery seen here on exiting the horrendous bottleneck at the Southern end of Leeds station and branching off on an unidentified electrified line. The bottleneck bottleneck at Leeds is the subject of a £160 million Railtrack capacity improvement scheme.
The photo was taken on 10 April 1999 as Virgin Trains Edinburgh-Southampton service pulled out of Leeds. The camera was located in Coach C, the picture obtained with a huge great big zoom lens followed by digital scaling up process. The film was Jessop’s cheap own-brand ISO 400, though the grain didn’t seem to be a problem even with such quick exposure and after the magnification.
