The remaining 4 coaches that make up CEP 1698 now set off for Dover Priory. The train has to my knowledge always divided like this with the first 8 coaches bound for the Thanet area and the last 4 destined for Dover. In the 1950's I would have made this journey at first by steam but then on CEPs when later introduced. It was to say the least something special to have taken the last 12 coach CEP down to Faversham and then watch the 4 cars set off for Dover, my final destination all those years ago being just one stop short at Kearsney. The date of this little bit of SE trains Kent Coast railway history was the 20th July 2005 having formed the 1749 departure from London Victoria.
