Farewell to Slam-door stock ...
Interiors of Buffet/service-car of a Class 412 of South West Trains, seen upon turnaround at London-Waterloo.
This car also has a buffet counter (not in use any more) and a Guard compartment, further in the background.
These units now mainly run on fast services to Southampton, but they used to be diagrammed on Boat Trains between London-Victoria and Folkestone-Harbour ot Dover-Western Docks until the early-80s
Pre-refurbishment (early-80s), this car used to have a dining-room and a full galley. Upon refurbishment, catering on South East services was downgraded to buffet-accommodation, and shortly thereafter to a mere trolley-service, which has displaced 412s to London-Waterloo fast services.
