VEP 3535 of the three 4 car units forming the last slam door out of the Capital is seen at its FINAL final destination Brighton carrying the headboard Sussex Slammer. The date of this HISTORIC day for trains in SE England was Saturday 26th November 2005 and the train that formed it was the 11.05 departure from London Victoria.

All is not lost though should you still wish to travel on one of these CLASSIC third rail DC units as although they will no longer be used on the main line, they have been given special permission to run on the Lymington Harbour Branch from Brockenhurst in the New Forest. Traffic did not justify the intoduction of new 450 units so South West Trains are running two class 421 3Cig units that have been put into heritage liveries...one in Green and the other in Blue Grey. We certainly plan to take a trip down there ourselves, enjoy a run and picture the line which we understand is now more like a preserved railway than todays modern mediocrity!
