150 YEARS OF RAILWAY HISTORY. On August 19th 2006 London Underground's Central Line from Leyton to Loughton was 150 years old and therefore forms the oldest part of the Tube network. An eastbound train passes the original 1856 Station House on its approach to Buckhurst Hill as a result of changes made to the station in 1891.
