150 YEARS OF RAILWAY HISTORY. On August 19th 2006 London Underground's Central Line from Leyton to Loughton was 150 years old and therefore forms the oldest part of the Underground Network. Loughton was first served by Tube Trains in 1948 which we understand were re-furbished 1924 Standard Stock. This was followed by the Silver 1962 Stock and then the current 1992 trains one of which is pictured here at Loughton in late August 2006.
