51683-Morden-01.jpg (155305 bytes)

Southbound London Underground Northern Line 1995 Stock EMU 51683 arrives into Morden station, the southern terminus. After turnaround here it will next form a service to High Barnet via Bank, which includes 17.3 miles (28.3km) below ground from the tunnel entrance visible in the background to East Finchley station - the longest on the network.
The platform arrangement at Morden, allowing access to both sides of the train (in this case platform 4 on the left and 3 on the right), makes it London Undergrounds highest capacity terminus in terms of the number of trains per hour that can be reversed.

HISTORY. This 1938 stock Northern Line train gets out occasionally on specials as was the case in June 2007 when it was pictured at Golders Green. These trains are not quite history though as some still operate service trains on the Isle of Wight.

This unusual shot is looking through two London Underground Northern Line 1995 tube stock EMUs at Morden tube station. The platforms are aranged so that there is a platform on both sides of the train, speeding up passenger loading/unloading by doubling the number of doors available. The second train would also normally have both sets of doors open, but platform 1 was closed for refurbishment.
