HISTORY. There is clearly a very marked difference in the height of 'overground' Underground stock and those designed for the deep tunnels. The first Underground trains ran not much below street level and adopted the cut and cover approach with large tunnels. This is reflected in the size of the Metropolitan Line train on the left. On the right the Piccadilly Line train spends much of its journey well underground and is subsequently smaller. The two were pictured at Rayners Lane on the 10th June 2007.
