150 YEARS OF RAILWAY HISTORY. On August 19th 2006 London Underground's Central Line from Leyton to Loughton was 150 years old and therefore forms the oldest part of the Tube network. This is Buckhurst Hill which has seen virtually no change at all since the station was re-built as far back as 1891. In this view looking east towards Loughton we see the superbly preserved Victorian footbridge linking the two platforms followed by the nearby road bridge.
