A section of four-rail 630v DC electrified track on London Underground's District Line at Earl's Court station. This photograph illustrates a traction current gap and the complexities that happen at even a simple set of diverging points.
The silvery white projection to the right of the righhand rail (to the left of the platform sign) is a tripcock that causes an emergency brake application if a train passes a red signal.
