HeathrowTerminals123-LU-360degree.jpg (161332 bytes)

A not-quite perfect 360° panorama of Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 tube station, viewed from the centre of one of the platforms.
Originally built as the terminus station "Heathrow Central", the station was redeveloped to become the second station on the uni-directional loop and renamed to its present identity with the opening of Terminal 4.
During construction work to enable the extension to Terminal 5 the loop was shut and this station once again became a simple two-platform terminus.
When Terminal 5 opens, trains will alternately serve Terminal 4 then Terminals 1,2,3 on the loop, or continue from Hatton Cross station to Terminals 1,2,3 and then to Terminal 5, where they will reverse and serve Terminals 1,2,3 again.

arrivingtrain-01.jpg (156217 bytes)

A Piccadilly Line 1973 Stock EMU arrives into Heathrow Terminal 4 tube station. Note the train describer at the top of the image, the second line scrolls messages in foreign languages - I think Italian at this moment.

eastend-02.jpg (160637 bytes)

The eastern end of the Heathrow Terminal 4 tube station. This station is on a single direction loop line, so all trains arrive from this direction from Hatton Cross tube station before continuing around the loop to Heathrow Terminals 123 tube station and from there back to Hatton Cross.

platformindicator-01.jpg (130504 bytes)

The platform train indicator at Heathrow Terminal 4 tube station. Unusually the second line scrolls messages in other languages, when I took this photograph it was displaying the end of one message ("Londra", possibly Spanish) and the start of another ("Tutti i treni fanno farmeta ai Hea[throw]...", which I think is Italian).
