The view through the rather grubby front window of Tyne and Wear Metro train 4089 on a Yellow line service towards Sunderland and Sout Hylton. The low level tracks on the left of shot are the Network Rail mainlines towards Jarrow and Sunderland, the electrified tracks are for the Metro. The signal ahead is at green with the 5 "feather lights" lit, indicating that this train will be taking the diverging route at Pelaw North junction ahead towards Pelaw Metro Junction, where the train will transfer to Network Rail metals for the trip to Sunderland. Without the route indicator set, the train would take the main route towards South Shields.
Just out of shot on the extreme right is Pelaw South Junction, where Yellow Line trains from Sunderland and Green line trains from South Shields join the same track towards Pelaw station and Newcastle.
