Park Lane interchange station on the Tyne and Wear Metro network, seen here through the window of a South Hylton-bound train, was purpose built as part of the metro extension in 2002. Located directly beneath the main bus station in Sunderland city centre, the station offers direct interchange to a number of destinations.
