The view through the rather grubby front window of Tyne and Wear Metro train 4089 as it approaches the metro platforms at the southern end of Sunderland station with a service to South Hylton.<p>
Since 2002 this station has been served by both Metro and mainline trains, with both faces on the large central island platform being split into two with Metro trains serving the southern end and Northern Rail mainline services calling at the northern end.
