CTRL seen from the Southfleet-Northfleet Road, curving towards the East. This portion does not re-use the route of the defunct Fawkham Junction-Gravesend West and marks the real start of the new route.

One can see the Interchange for A2/M2 Dartford-Dover further ahead. Stage 2 of the CTRL will dive under this interchange.
