A diesel locomotive with a carriage at Llanberis Station at the foot of the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the only public rack and pinnion railway in Great Britain. The locomotives are not coupled to the carriages, but push them up the mountain and act as a brake on the way down. For this reason, there is no level section of track anywhere on the line.
