Looking north from the southern end of Cardiff Queen Street railway station. On the left is the present platform 1 where northbound services on the Valley Lines call. Platform 2 on the right is for southbound services to Cardiff Central and on to Penarth and Barry. Platform 3 on the extreme right is used almost exclusively for services to and from Cardiff Bay station.
At the time this photograph was taken three different Arriva Trains Wales DMUs were in the station, at platform 1 is Class 143 railbus DMU 143609 heading for Treherbet. At platform 2 is Class 150/2 150245 with a southbound service to Coryton. To the right again is single-car Class 153 unit 153312 which has just aarrived on the shuttle service from Cardiff Bay - to where it will once again head after a 5 or so minute turn around.
