Looking east from the western end of platform 1 at Dorchester South station. Note how different the platform lengths are, although the westbound platform does exend further east than this one does the difference is no where near this extreme. I don't know if there is or was a reason for this though.
This photograph also highlights the curve the station is built on, and is a good example of the way the electrified third rails are always placed away from the platforms at stations to minimise the chance of anyone accidentally falling on them.
