FAW-stationfromeast-01.jpg (161324 bytes)

Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the approach footpath. The section of the bridge nearest the camera and those parts with white hand rails was added in 2004 when the third line (nearest the camera) was added to increase capacity by splitting northbound services heading via Bristol Parkway from those heading to South Wales. Before that the path from the car park ran at ground level from the back of platform 2.

A merged view of Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the approach footpath. The ramp with yellow handrails to platforms 2 and 3 (originally just platform 2) is original to the contstruction of the station, which is contemporary with the openeing of the large MOD complex in the background.

The railway line north of Filton Abbey Wood station viewed from the halfway landing on the ramp between the footbrdige and platforms 2 and 3. I'm not sure what the point of this very short siding is, but I presume it was truncated when the original path to the station was constructed (this followed the line of the concrete blocks, and was removed when the line on the left of the picture was constructed in 2004).
