Looking west from the footbridge at Gloucester station, platform 2 is on the left is presently occupied by a First Great Western HST on a London Paddington to Cheltenham Spa service, while platform 4 on the right is host to a three-car Central Trains Class 170 DMU (of Midland Mainline heritage) en route from Cardiff Central to Nottingham.
