Looking east from the western end of platform 2 at Gloucester station, platform 3 is the bay platform on the right, platform 4 is on the left. The First Great Western HST visible at platform 2 gives an indication of just how long the platform is - there is room for at lease a two-car DMU at this end of the platform (although the signal location would need changing), and  platform 1, which is a continuation of the same platform face, is also long enoguh for a complete HST set. I know of no other station that can accomodate two HSTs end-to-end, let alone with room to spare!
