A merged view looking west from the eastern end of platform 1 at Gloucester, together with platform 2 (a continuation of the same platform face from the middle to the western end of the station), this is the longest platform in the country at 602.69 metres (1977 ft. 4 ins.). Both platforms are long enough to take full length HST sets, making this the only place in the country (as far as I know) where you can see two HSTs end to end - although this didn't happen when I was there.
To the right of the picture is Horton Road yard, today home mostly to grass and weeds looks like it was formerelly a very large and very busy goods/marshaling yard.
