Looking west from a short distance west of the middle of platform 1 at Gloucester, together with platform 2 (a continuation of the same platform face from the far side of the signal gantry, is the longest platform in the country at 602.69 metres (1977 ft. 4 ins.). Both platforms are long enough to take full length HST sets, making this the only place in the country (as far as I know) where you can see two HSTs end to end - although this didn't happen when I was there.
Currently at plaform 1 is First Great Western Class 143 railbus DMU 143611, while in the sidings on the right is ex-Virgin Trains HST powercar 43157 and two Midland Mainline-liveried mark 3 coaches.
