A view of Gasworks Tunnels south portals.

The disused eastern bore is on the far right, where rush-hour trains to Moorgate emerged alongside York Road station, prior to diving into York Road curve - memories of Cravens DMUs, and Class 31s hauling high-density, short-underframe, non-corridor coaches.

The former diesel stabling and refuelling point was on the left, where the cars and police vans are now parked. Could this be where a proposed new western bore might emerge to serve a rebuilt and expanded suburban station ? Photo by Mark Ziemba, scan by Fuji #zedbedman@netscape.net
